In my previous video (🤍 I spoke about how I still use my base-spec Late 2013 MacBook Pro as my main computer in 2021. One reason I’m able to do so is that I replaced the 128 GB factory SSD with the 480 GB OWC Aura Pro X2. How To Replace SSD HardDrive on Macbook Pro/Air | OWC 1.0TB Aura SSD Review What's up techies! Today we look at how to replace the hard drive on the Apple macbook pro, macbook air and/or macbook. They are have the same simple steps. I replaced the factory samsung 128GB flash SSD HD with a 1TB flash SSD HD from OWC and I'm glad I did. 128gb barely gives you any storage now a days on a computer. Even the storage is by now means cheap, it's a less expensive doing it through a third party than paying almost double the cost for apple. Review of the Aura SSD: The most obvious upgrade is storage. There right off the bat you will notice a large difference in the storage. Besides that, the upgraded SSD and the old one, don't have the big of a difference. I did notice that there was a slight decrease in battery with the OWC SSD. I would definitely recommend the Aura SSD from OWC if your thinking about upgrading and/or replacing your hard drive any time soon on your apple Macbook! I donated this MacBook Air but before that I thought the new owner can enjoy it better with a bigger storage so I have installed OWC Aura Pro 1TB SSD. The original SSD was close to end of life but surprisingly is still working. However, most probably it can go down anytime so this upgrade was a must. Also, in this video you will see the original SSD values after 9 years of usage and 0% availability and reliability. Enjoy and feel free to drop a comment if you have questions. Some info about Internet Recovery Mode If your Mac is at least from late 2011 up and is running OSX 10.7 (Lion) or later, then you will be able to use Internet Recovery Mode with no adjustments. If you have a Mac manufactured earlier, Apple has published an update: "Some Macs that came with OS X Snow Leopard can use Internet Recovery after installing OS X Lion or later and a firmware update." There is also an updated EFI Firmware ROM that can be downloaded (link at the end) and installed. This is a follow up video for my previous OWC Video. I am basically making this (and the other) video for OWC to see so they can confirm I have a problem with my ssd. A word of warning. Myself and other people online have had big issue with this and similar models of ssd. I myself have only 2 OWC products, this ssd and a USB enclosure for the stock Apple ssd that came out of my MacPro. Guess what, BOTH products are faulty. I spent over $1,000!!! As far as I can tell OWC make absolute garbage! If you value your time and or money stay clear of this product!
